1301 Chloramphenicol Agar (YGC Agar) ISO, Condalab

1301 Condalab

Chloramphenicol Agar (YGC Agar) ISO is a dehydrated selective medium designed for cultivation and counting of yeasts and filamentous fungi in milk, dairy and other food products. After reconstitution, it suppresses bacterial flora thanks to chloramphenicol and provides optimal nutrition via yeast extract and glucose, enabling reliable enumeration of fungal contaminants according to ISO standards.

Add to bag

Chloramphenicol Agar (YGC Agar) ISO (catalogue No. 1301) is a dehydrated selective culture medium intended for the isolation and enumeration of yeasts and molds, especially in milk, dairy products and other food matrices. The medium contains yeast extract, glucose (dextrose), bacteriological agar and chloramphenicol as selective agent, creating favourable conditions for fungal growth while inhibiting most bacteria.

After reconstitution and sterilization, pour or surface inoculation can be applied. Plates are incubated aerobically at 25 °C (or appropriate temperature) for 3–7 days to allow growth of yeasts and molds. The medium complies with international standards and is widely used in food microbiology quality control.

Advantages

  • Selective suppression of bacterial flora by chloramphenicol, allowing fungi to grow unimpeded.
  • Nutrition-rich formulation with yeast extract and glucose, supporting growth of stressed or low-viability fungal cells.
  • Compliant with relevant international standards for yeast/mold enumeration in dairy and food products (e.g., ISO 6611 / ISO 7954 / FIL-IDF guidelines).
  • Simple preparation and straightforward use: dissolution, sterilization, pouring, inoculation and incubation.
  • Suitable for routine quality-control laboratories, food safety testing and dairy industry microbiology.
