1205 Sabouraud Dextrose Broth EP/USP, Condalab

1205 Condalab

Sabouraud Dextrose Broth EP/USP is a dehydrated liquid medium intended for selective enrichment and cultivation of yeasts, molds and acidophilic microorganisms. It complies with European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and USP standards. After reconstitution it supports fungal growth, making it suitable for sterility testing, microbial limit tests and quality control of non-sterile products.

Add to bag

Sabouraud Dextrose Broth EP/USP (catalogue No. 1205) is a dehydrated culture medium designed for the cultivation, enrichment and detection of yeasts, molds and aciduric microorganisms in food, pharmaceutical, veterinary, clinical and quality-control applications.

The medium combines a high concentration of dextrose as a fermentable carbohydrate energy source with a mixture of peptic digest of animal tissue and pancreatic digest of casein, which provides nitrogen, amino acids, vitamins and minerals essential for fungal growth. The acidic final pH and nutrient composition create favourable conditions for fungi while inhibiting many bacteria.

Advantages

  • Compliant with EP and USP pharmacopoeial standards for microbial examination of non-sterile products.
  • Selective enrichment medium favouring fungi (yeasts and molds) over many bacteria due to high dextrose concentration and acidic pH.
  • Suitable for sterility tests, microbial limit tests, and general fungal detection/enumeration in food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and clinical samples.
  • Easy preparation: dissolve, sterilize, cool, inoculate, incubate.
