1153 Pseudomonas CN Agar Base ISO, Condalab

1153 Condalab

Pseudomonas CN Agar Base ISO is formulated for selective isolation and presumptive enumeration of P. aeruginosa from water samples. After reconstitution and supplementation, the medium suppresses non-target flora, encourages pigment production (pyocyanin/pyoverdin), enabling visual differentiation of P. aeruginosa colonies.

Add to bag

Pseudomonas CN Agar Base ISO (catalogue No. 1153) is a dehydrated selective agar medium intended for the detection and enumeration of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in water samples by membrane filtration technique. The base medium contains gelatin peptone, casein hydrolysate, potassium sulfate, magnesium chloride, cetrimide, nalidixic acid and bacteriological agar, providing nutrients and selective agents to inhibit non-target bacteria while supporting growth of P. aeruginosa and inducing pigment production.

After sterilization and proper supplementation (as per protocol), inoculate membrane filter onto the medium and incubate under recommended conditions. P. aeruginosa colonies typically produce characteristic green-blue pigmentation or fluorescence under UV light, which aids presumptive identification. The medium is compliant with ISO 11133 and ISO 16266 for water microbiology testing.

Advantages

  • Selective and differential medium optimized for Pseudomonas aeruginosa in water testing.
  • Complies with ISO 11133 and ISO 16266 standards for water quality and microbial enumeration.
  • Suppresses non-target flora while promoting pigment production for easy visual identification.
  • Reliable presumptive detection via membrane filtration method.
  • Suitable for environmental and water quality control laboratories.
